Born in Tokyo, Japan, Mieko Takahashi moved to the US in 1992 to pursue a career in
accounting. For ten years working as a CPA, Mieko made jewelry as a hobby. In 2006,
she began creating jewelry full time, launching Shizen Designs. Mieko hand-crafts her
jewelry from her home in Bellingham, Washington, assisted by her husband David, her
two cats Koko and Kiku and her dog Kumo.
